Make your Food Drive a Healthy One!

At St. Peter’s Haven, our goal is to provide healthy, supplemental food to underprivileged families and individuals in the Clifton community. Besides the immediate physical effects of hunger, the overall negative impacts on those affected by hunger cannot be overlooked.   The elderly are at risk for increased health issues including diabetes and other age-related illnesses.  Children who are malnourished have the potential to suffer from various irreversible conditions from cognitive and physical impairments to poor academic achievement as a result of poor health.  Proper nutrition provides the foundation for overall good health and a sense of well-being.

With this in mind, we encourage you to Help Fight Hunger the Healthy Way.  Here are all the tools you need to host a Healthy Food Drive.

Food Donations

While we get monthly allotments of food from the Community Food Bank of NJ, it is unfortunately not sufficient to feed all of our pantry members.  We rely on our donors to fill the gaps so we have an adequate supply of nutritious food for all of the individuals and families we serve. If you are out shopping and want to assist, the following staple foods are always welcome:

  • Cereal & Oats

  • Canned Tuna & Salmon

  • Peanut butter

  • Canned Ravioli & Pasta Sauce

  • Pasta & Rice

  • Canned Fruits & Vegetables

  • Beans (Dried or Canned)

We also accept gift cards from local supermarkets to make additional purchases, which often include purchasing a meat protein for our pantry members.

If you are looking to make a donation and would like to find out what we need most at that time, please feel free to contact us as our inventory changes constantly.

Holiday Donations

We are extremely thankful to all in our community who give to the programs at Saint Peter’s Haven throughout the year. Here is how you can help this holiday season:

Coats, Hats, Gloves

As we enter the colder season, we want to ensure that all members of our Food Pantry have warm coats for every member of their household. Both new and gently used coat donations are accepted. Distribution generally begins in late fall and lasts through the winter months.

Children's Holiday Gifts

Throughout the month of December, Saint Peter's Haven distributes holiday gifts to the children in our Pantry Program. Your donations greatly assist parents who cannot afford to purchase gifts for the holidays, as well as bring joy to all of the children who may not receive presents otherwise. Gifts valued between $15-$25 are greatly appreciated.

Teen Gifts

We hope to give our teenagers gifts they will truly enjoy by providing a small gift (hat, cosmetics, headphones, etc.) along with a gift card to a local retailer, where they can purchase something for themselves. Donations of $10 Gift Cards to any of the ollowing suggested retailers are greatly appreciated:

  • Five Below

  • Target

  • K-mart

  • Walmart

  • Quick Check

  • Dunkin Donuts

  • Starbucks

Adopt one of our larger families and provide a gift for each family member. This is a great opportunity for a group that would like to work together to help a family struggling to make ends meet.

Give Financially

Giving financially allows us to continue our programs and supportive services for those in need. This holiday season, you can double the impact of your gift to fight hunger and homelessness by donating to Partners for Health, which will match donations of $50 or more $1 to $1 - doubling your financial support. Kick off the season of giving by donating online this #GivingTuesday, and help us to reach our Year End Campaign goals.
